COMMUNITY MESSAGE

6/19/2020

As a company that tries to always do the right thing and to act from our hearts, we stumbled.

Over the past several weeks, we have listened, reflected, and learned from the feedback of our community, employees, and customers, and will continue to do so.

Nearly three weeks ago, we offered free lunch to police officers. We intended this as a kind gesture, in recognition of their role in protecting our storefront during the recent unrest. This offer proved to be hurtful to some of our highly valued employees & customers. By discontinuing the offer, we hurt some of the police officers & their families for whom we care. Unintentionally, our decisions further divided the community we love and respect. The intent of our action was good; the impact was not.

We respect & support those officers in the Philadelphia Police Department who serve our community with honor and integrity.  We also stand strongly against racism and violence and are committed to doing our part to advance equity and inclusivity.

Our actions will speak louder than our words. As a company, we are focused on healing, growth, and improvement, both within our four walls and throughout our beloved City.

Since Danny and Joe opened Di Bruno Bros. in 1939, we have proudly celebrated great food, great service, great people, and a great love for our city. Those values have never changed. Our commitment to being a good neighbor and employer is among those core values.

We have been part of the fabric of Philadelphia for the past 80 years.  As business leaders in the community, we want to be a part of the collective healing and unifying process needed for our City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection.

Sincerely,

The Third Generation Owners of Di Bruno Bros.
