A Note from BIll Jr.

Dear Valued Customers,

In light of recent developments surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) we wanted to share a few updates. After much discussion we have decided to keep our stores open. We understand our role as a neighborhood grocery store is important to serving our community. Di Bruno Bros equally plays a vital role in the lives of our employees. Our decision to stay open is coupled with a continuing commitment to maintain a clean and safe environment through whatever measures deemed necessary. In the last 24 hours we have hired a 3rd party commercial cleaning service for daily cleaning in all locations on top of the enhanced internal sanitation measures already in place. We are working closely with Dr. Stephen Gluckman, Medical Director, Penn Global Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is serving as our expert adviser on the latest updates and precautionary measures.

During these uncertain times, we are doing everything we can to be here for you and meet your needs while taking proactive measures to protect and ensure the well being of employees and  customers.

Here are our important updates along with a reiteration of our efforts:

Our stores:

  • As a neighborhood grocery, our stores remain open. We will be adjusting hours of operations to open one hour later and close one hour earlier at most locations to allow for even more cleaning measures to take place at the beginning and end of each day. All store hours are updated on dibruno.com

  • We are suspending sampling at this time

  • At the close of business March 16, we will be suspending operations at Alimentari, our upstairs bar & cafe, until further notice.

  • We will be cancelling After Hours events effective immediately through the month of March, issuing full refunds.

Our teams:

  • As always we prioritize the health and safety of our employees and we are ensuring they stay home if they are feeling ill.

  • We continue to provide support, guidance, and information to our teams so they can keep themselves, their families, and our customers safe and healthy.

  • Our teams are receiving enhanced safe food handling, hygiene, and handwashing training daily.

  • We have expanded access to free medical consultation for all employees.

Expert Health and Safety Advisory team:

  • We are working closely with Dr. Stephen Gluckman, Medical Director, Penn Global Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and will be touching base with him regularly for consultation and advice on the latest updates and precautionary measures.

  • We have assembled an internal task force to monitor the developing situation.  We are consulting with health experts and monitoring their recommendations including guidance from World Health Organizations, the CDC as well as state, city, and local officials to ensure we are implementing and proactively communicating all necessary measures and the latest updated information.

  • It is our standard practice to have multiple ServSafe certified employees at all locations and our internal ServSafe certified trainer is conducting additional ongoing updated training at all locations.

Catering & Commissary:

  • As much of our event and catering business has been effectively put on hold, we are deploying staff in these departments to support our stores, and our food delivery functions.

  • Our event & delivery teams have implemented enhanced cleaning measures, safe food handling, and additional sanitation of our vans and all delivery vessels.

  • We are offering packages of individually wrapped meals for customers that should need this.

Delivery & dibruno.com:

  • We have added additional operational resources to support our third party delivery services (Caviar, GrubHub, Instacart), so that you are able to have food delivered to your home.

  • Ordering through Dibruno.com is available should you choose that method for a la carte pantry items or would like to send something to a loved one, with reduced shipping rates.

We are grateful to our customers and employees for their trust and confidence and I assure you we will remain vigilant in our efforts to ensure that everyone who visits our stores knows that their safety is our top priority. If there is anything else we can do to serve you during this time, please send an email to customerservice@dibruno.com or speak with a general manager at any store location.

Sincerely,

Bill Mignucci Jr.
