Bees & Trees Manuka Honey

Hive to jar goodness, sourced from New Zealand.

Quick Overview:

Prized worldwide, thick and spreadable goodness.

Quick Facts

Origin: Taranaki, New Zealand
Unit Size: 380g

The Flavor Experience

Bold and buttery, this hive-to-jar honey has a subtle sweetness that works in countless ways.

The Story

Produced from bees in the pristine native forests at the foothills of the Matemateaonga mountain range in Taranaki.  Manuka honey is prized all over the world for its medicinal benefits, but beware of imitations.  Last year, more manuka honey was sold than was produced, with non-indigenous knockoffs flooding the market.  The two most important measures of the real deal are 1) that it is made in New Zealand, and 2) the high levels of methylglyoxal (MGO), the key ingredient responsible for killing germs. The higher the level of MGO, the more expensive the honey.

MGO is measured in parts per kilogram.  Anything over 100 is considered to be antibacterial.  This version clocks in at 320mg/kg, which is considered high with good healing properties.

Usage Tips

Stir into tea, spread on some toasted sourdough, or add to some apple wedges. Perfectly acceptable to lick straight of the spoon as well!
