Campanini Farro

Slightly nutty with the heartiness of whole grain and bran.

Quick Overview:

A moderately crunchy and chewy semi-pearled grain. A versatile and rewarding grain, farro can be used in everything from soups to salads.

Quick Facts

Origin: Italy
Unit Size: 16 oz.

The Flavor Experience

Farro is a type of hulled, hard wheat, and is the perfect addition in everything from soup to salads. Similar in taste and texture to more the more commonly used barley, farro has been a part of the Italian culinary tradition for more than 2,000 years. It has a slighty nutty flavor, and maintains a nice crunch, even after soaking and cooking.

The Story

Farro is rich in fiber and, being a whole grain, keeps you feeling fuller longer. Now in its third-generation, Campanini is a family-run business, producing several varieties of custom-milled rice, naturally grown in Lombardia and Veneto, at their own specialized riseria in northern Italy. Each step in their small batch production is overseen by a member of the family, ensuring the rice they sell is of the highest quality, without any chemical treatment.

Usage Tips

If mealtimes were a theater production, farro could be cast in a starring role or a supporting one. It tastes just as delicious as the main ingredient in cold Tabbouleh salad as it does as the base of a hot breakfast cereal, topped with fruit and honey.
