The Flavor Experience
Any recipe that calls for bitters can use PeychaudAeA¢s, but not every recipe that calls for PeychaudAeA¢s can use bitters. And that is the beauty of this New Orleans-style spirit. Mild notes of saffron, citrus peel, and caramel give it complex flavor for Manhattans, Sazeracs, and Whiskey Sours, to name a few.
The Story
Son of Haitian immigrants, Antoine Peychaud, is credited with popularizing his familyAeA¢s recipe for bitters in his New Orleans apothecary. Sure, initially, they were used for their medicinal properties, but after adding a dash to a brandy toddy, he soon discovered they were destined for so much more.
Usage Tips
