Truffle Gouda
Truffle Gouda
Description
Description
Sweet and herbaceous, speckled with black truffle flakes.
The Flavor Experience
Crafted from the finest Holstein-Fresian cows, each wax-coated wheel spends 18 months maturing into a sweet, grassy, milky variety you can’t quite get enough of. Black truffle flakes bring an earthiness to the dense paste for a gouda that’s unique from the first taste to the last bite.
The Story
Marieke Penterman and her family left their home in the Netherlands to pursue cheesemaking glory with Saxelby Cheesemongers and never looked back. Penterman has crafted an array of award-winning goudas (this one, in particular, won the 2015 Nantwich International Cheese Awards) in Wisconsin that would make their cousins across the pond envious.
Usage Tips
Sliced off the wheel, this gouda will stand on its own as a delicious bite. Dollop fig preserves over a chunk and a slice of baguette. Sip a whiskey neat to bring out the gouda's oh-so-smooth caramel notes.
