The Flavor Experience

The name of this cheese translates roughly as "buttery," you'll be just as eager to smear it on crusty bread as you will be to enjoy it with fresh crisp greens. You'll see why Burrata is the most beloved of our handmade cheeses.

The Story

Burrata is a traditional cheese from Puglia in the south of Italy. It is a relatively new cheese, originating in the first half of the 20th century. It was made to provide a flavor and texture experience similar to Buffalo Mozzarella and to give the Mozzarella makers something to do with the small bits of cheese left over from their daily make.

Usage Tips

This southern Italian classic would be pair well with our Sicilian olive oil and a little bit of pinot noir sea salt to bring out the sweetness of Burrata's creamy core.
