- Camembert (1/2 lb) – A bloomy white-rinded cheese from the northern part of the country. Beneath its (edible) rind you'll find a creamy yellow paste that begins to ooze at room temperature. Delicious served warm alongside slices of apple and crusty bread.
- Comte (1/2 lb) – From the French Alps in the southeastern part of the country, Comte is France's answer to Swiss Gruyere, which is also produced in the Alps. This cheese is most famous as the melted topping on French Onion Soup, and it is also a key ingredient in Fondue, but it can simply be enjoyed chunked or julienned as well.
- Agour Ossau-Iraty (1/2 lb) – This wonderfully sweet and satiny smooth sheep's milk cheese hails from the Basque region in southwestern France. It pairs perfectly with fresh fruit or fruit preserves. One of the most tasty and approachable of all the French cheeses.
