The inspiration for Prima Donna was to create a hybrid of Parmigiano Reggiano and Gouda, and they seem to have found a pretty good balance between the two.
This is essentially Gouda made with starter cultures that are typically used in northern Italy. These cultures result in a sweeter cheese than you would typically find in Holland.
Pair with most beers or red wines. We love it with Black Lava Cashews or Cinnful Cocoa Pecans.

I just tried this cheese for the first time, and wondered why it had escaped my attention before now. It is firm but gets creamy in your mouth, while still having just a hint of some granular crumbly texture as you finish it. It has a really nice sweetness to it. I'll be ordering this one again!
We enjoyed this cheese. The flavor is exactly as described. It pared well with crostini & balsamic glaze. Great snack or to serve to company.

I ordered Prima Donna but my daughter was sent L'amuse Gouda. As it turns out she was very happy with the L'Amuse so it was a good mistake.
